01
How much does it cost?
With Monika, you receive 20 brand names with high trademark confidence for $5,000.
-
02
How much do traditional agencies charge for brand naming?
Naming services are as variable in price as they are in quality. A small design studio with some naming experience may charge as little as $4,000, whereas a large, well-known naming agency may charge upwards of $100,000. In our experience, reputable agencies most often charge between $7,000 - $40,000 for an engagement that lasts 2-12 weeks.

04

05
Do you filter for domain availability?
No. Domain availability is sometimes thought to be a critical consideration when selecting a brand name, but as the number of brands using unconventional domains has risen, so has public tolerance. No matter the size of the organization, we do not advise abandoning a name simply because the standard .com is unavailable. Below are a few examples of how companies have gotten creative with their domain:

06
Are Monika’s brand names guaranteed to be available to trademark?
Though we take a conservative approach to judging a name’s availability, it’s impossible to make a concrete determination without consulting a trademark attorney and submitting a legal filing. Our prescreening detects 'exact' and 'contains' matches, but 'fuzzy' conflicts are best determined by a legal professional.
-
07
Can you explain where each brand name came from, and what it means?
We present names in a way that mirrors how your name will be presented to consumers: with minimal explanation.
-
08
Do you reuse brand names that were presented to previous clients?
No. Each name presented to our clients in response to a brief is the first and last time that name is presented.
-
09
Will you be discreet?
The privacy of our clients is a top priority, and we understand the gravity of an existing company considering a name change. We also understand that not every company will want to be transparent about their use of a third party naming service. The information shared in our naming briefs is entirely confidential, and in the event of a company’s eventual adoption of a name generated by Monika, we do not publicly share that project information unless we are granted written consent to do so.

What do I need to do before submitting a naming brief?
You may want to speak with a lawyer about the markets and categories in which you require trademark protection before submitting a naming brief.
To get the best results from any naming process, we advise developing a brand strategy beforehand. Having an idea of how you want your brand to be positioned in the market and the attitude you wish it to embody will make it easier to generate and identify an effective brand name.

11

Given the nature of our service, we do not provide guarantees or refunds.
-
12
Do you generate names in English only?
Yes. You will be asked in the brief whether your organization requires American or British spelling.
-
13
Do you use ChatGPT to generate names?
No. However, we do utilize OpenAI’s GPT-4 for most of our models, usually in combination with lexical databases and custom code.
-
14
Are all of the names generated by AI?
Only a small portion of our names are directly generated by AI, but most of our models utilize AI in some way. We also have the ability to manually contribute names into the system.
